Frequently asked questions

What is CouponJP?

CouponJP is a free coupon site for visitors to Japan. Show a coupon at checkout to get an extra discount at 15 store brands — drugstores, electronics stores, department stores and duty-free shops, 1,940 stores in total — on top of tax-free shopping.

Is it free? Do I need an app or an account?

It is free. There is no app to install and no sign-up — just open couponjp.com in your browser. You can add it to your home screen to open it in one tap.

How do I use a coupon?

Before paying, show the coupon on your phone to the cashier. They scan the barcode and apply the discount. A few stores need a paper coupon — the coupon page tells you when.

Can I combine the coupon with tax-free shopping?

Yes. The coupon discount is applied at checkout, and tax-free shopping (10% consumption tax) is handled separately through the store's tax-free procedure with your passport.

Which stores accept CouponJP coupons?

Kintetsu Dept. Store, Seibu, Odakyu Dept. Store, Tobu Dept. Store, Sugi Pharmacy, Tsuruha Drug, EDION, Bic Camera, Sundrug, Daimaru, Cosmos Drug, Haneda Airport Duty Free, Narita Airport Duty Free, Kokumin Drug, Lotte Duty Free. Each store page lists every location with its address.

Can I use the coupon without an internet connection?

Yes. Open the coupon and tap “Save coupon to Photos” (or long-press the image to save it), then show the saved image at checkout.

What changes for tax-free shopping from November 1, 2026?

From November 1, 2026 you pay the tax-inclusive price in the store, and the tax is refunded after customs confirms at your departure airport that the goods are leaving Japan. Coupon discounts at checkout are not affected.
